Arrow FD Front cover: Will it fit on the 20B engine?

Hi Guys,

Just a very quick and simple question that I needed answered. Will a front cover off an FD fit on the 20B engine?

Thanks in advance,

Rizwan

I know why you're asking

I tried to fit it when my motor was at Mandeville's. The oil pan doesn't line up well. You could probably seal it with a bunch of silicon, and you need to drill a new hole for a bolt. The other problem is the big oil pressure regulator bolt thing made contract with the pan. You might be able to hammer it out to fit.

Thanks for the heads up, BOTH TIMES ! I guess I'll make it work.

Has ANYONE actually gone ahead and installed the FD front cover on their engine?

I have done it, the lip on the oil pan is very large in the front, so some silicone seals it right up. I think 3 holes had to be drilled out. Pretty easy. The oil pressure reg. didnt hit at all for me.

Interesting. It definately made contact on mine. There were 2 other people there that noticed it. Are there different size reg bolts? If I rotated the bolt a little bit so a flat edge is facing forward it probably would have given me a few mm more room.

Went out to the garage and took some pics. You'll see that both FD and FC/20B front covers have the oil reg. in the exact same spot, when placed on a flat surface. I also put them on the three different 20B oil pans, and none of them made any contact, still have enough clearance to unthread the regulator bolt. So I personally cant see how it could hit, unless the factory 20B front cover would hit. Which it doesnt. Enjoy!

Awesome! Thanks Logan and everyone else for the great info. I'm definitely going to be using an FD front cover now and hopefully I shouldn't have any problems from there on out.

That looks about right. He moved the pan back a small amount because he didn't think it would seal well with the low overlap between the pan and front cover at the corners. When he did that it made contact with the regulator. We didn't actually install it though. Since you guys haven't had any problems it is probably fine.
