Its Alllliiive!

just took the TIII for the first real drive today after fixing the timing (last time the manifold almost melted, way too retarded.). The tune sucks, but it still feels sweet! Soon as i get some tuning done i'll post up some pics and impressions.

well, the project is on hold for a while, again. had everything finished up and went for a drive to start tuning. car was running awesome, had all kinds of power, even at 8psi and untuned with horribly rich afrs...anyway, i was too lazy to put the hood pins in. bad idea.

i now have the imprint of my TII hood scoop in my roof, a shattered windshield, trashed hood (obviously), bent sunroof cap, and broken sunroof rails and windshield wipers. please guys, if you dont have hood pins, go buy some, and dont be lazy and leave them sitting in your toolbox like i did.

anybody in the area that might be willing to give me a charity TII hood and/or windhsield, or sell one to me for what i would spend on beer this month (beer is the only thing i have money left for after the 20b swap), please let me know.

well i found a windshield for 95 bucks. i wouldnt have done it, but the chick at triumph auto glass was hot and her loose/low cut shirt mesmerized me so all i could say was yes.

i think im gonna take this opportunity to make a carbon fiber sunroof, so if i can just get a hood, i'll be in good shape, other than paint.

Back on the road!

spent a week or two of between classes time and got the roof fixed and a new windshield in...decided on a lexan sunroof, using dzus fasteners to make it just a pop in and out deal so i saved 15lbs or so on the power actuator stuff. still ahvent found a hood at a price i can afford, so i jumped up and down on the old one till it fit, and im just running ugly.

had a nasty boost problem and fought with it for a while..turned out that the silencer in my corksport was just too damn small for a 20b...should have thought of it a long time ago, but the noise it was making sounded like an intake leak.

went for a drive today at an untuned 10psi...got an intercooler hose that keeps blowing, but when it doesnt, the car definately does not stick to the ground. its so weird having that much torque in a fc...i cant get used to being able to idle around and stuff...and also spinning every time i take off.

hope to get the IC hoses fixed and do some tuning tomorrow, then off to the track next weekend. I'd tune it tonight, but its raining like hell, and my sunroof isnt finished yet.

hoping for a low 12/high 11 pass on street tires and 12-15psi. not sure how my clutch will handle that tho...

i'll let you guys know how it goes.

oh and jeff i am not sure about the temps, because i am using a gm sensor, which has a slightly different temp curve than a stock one that my ecu is calibrated for...drilled it out for the megasquirt and now cant find the original sensor.... it seems to be a little on the hot side tho...
i have a set of 1" aftermarket guages i'll install soon, so then i can get an accurate read on it.

Thanks. Mine was running hot on all three guages (stock in car, MS, and aftermarket).

afco double pass? make sure the baffle is secure, they can come unattached and then the radiator goes from double pass to no pass....

changed water pumps today, so checked the baffle in my radiator, it is fine, at least as far as i can tell with the poke-it-with-a-stick method

Jeff-

My temps are fine, but i do notice that I am running the fan quite a lot, so this thing is definately putting off some heat. I am going to try cutting around on my front bumper some, and ducting the mouth area back to the radiator, and see if that saves me running the fan at low speeds. Right now i am running it pretty much all the time below 30mph or so.

Also with all the unrepaired damage to my hood, i cant do any ducting for my fuel cooler, so right now it is more of a fuel heater...dammit.

Are you monitoring oil temperature?
Three rotors are none for excessive high oil temps even when the coolant temps seems ok.
