Difference in stock wastegates?

OK, this may seem a bit odd to ask but here goes.

I had to pull the turbos off due to blowing out my LIM gasket the other night. I'm cleaning things up a bit on the turbos while I have the opportunity, so I'm looking to pull the rear flapper door out since it's only being held open with a coat hanger right now.

I was playing with the two wastegates and I noticed that the rear one isn't too hard to pull open while it takes a considerable amount more force to pull the front one open. Is that normal, or is it possible that something is amiss?

When the car was driving, things felt fine other than the 'normal' turbo lag induced by not having sequential turbos. Of course, I have nothing to compare mine to since this is the only non-seq setup I've ever driven.

My question is, is it possible that the front wastegate is set to a higher spring rate (diaphragm pressure or whatever), or could it be something else?

What strikes me odd about the whole lag issue with the 20Bs is that
A) The motor has more displacement and therefore more airflow than a 2 rotor and
B) The turbos are overall smaller than the 13B series turbos.

This is really noticeable when I drive my car (open exhaust, cone intake, FMIC) back to back with my friend's 3rd gen (with open exhaust, stock airbox, stock I/C). His spool time is quite a bit shorter than mine.

I realize that a stiffer wastegate would probably let the boost climb more rapidly due to opening later, but is there any way that it could adversely affect lag times?

Hopefully this made some amount of sense.

looking at my b series 20b , the front turbo is bigger than the back while on a 13brew it has 2 small equal size turbo. so i dont think the 20b has overall smaller turbo.!!!!
i will check my waste gate actuaters though.
i'll let you know

Thanks! What I meant about the turbos is that the FD uses (I think) two HT-15s while the 20B uses HT-10 and anHT-12. The FC, in comparison, uses an HT-18.

You're right about the size difference on the 20B, though.
