you NEVER get your money back on modifications. Never. When one modifies a car, just as when buying a new car, it's with the knowledge that monetarily speaking you're going to take a big loss BUT, and this is the important BUT, you are spending the money for something that you will enjoy for a while.

Nobody modifies cars with intent to sell and turn a profit. The thing to do is find someone who already HAS a car, and have them continually write you checks, so you get to play with their car using their money.

Hmm. I sense a business plan forming

basically a good rule of thumb for mods, is to deduct the cost of the mod from the price of the car. if you are a purist anyways.
