Chassis blue and white plugs FD3

On the chassis side wiring I researched splicing bits of the blue and white plugs on the FD3 to get the guage and things working. I have a permanent warning buzzer and as detailed in my other thread my fuel guage appears to be dead. Maybe unrelated. Anyway. I was looking at diagrams today and spotted the blue plug has an earth wire labelled sensors gnd. Should this have been grounded out or will it not be used with an aftermarket Ecu? I grounded the earth wire in the white plug as everyone points out but don't recall seeing anything about ground on the blue plug. I am running factory wiring for the oil level, water level and so on but these go through the white plug if I recall?
Can anyone answer this for me please?

Thank you
Lee

I dont know off hand without looking at diagrams, but I would assume that if that blue plug mates with the engine wiring harness on the FD3S factory motor, and it is noted to have a ground wire, likely that the ground wire would ground through the engine harness OEM configuration. Therefore, I would try grounding that wire directly to a clean ground in the surrounding area and see if this fixes your gauges.

Keep it up Leeroy, my gauges are dead to, but I havnt really looked into it yet, gps tell me how fast I'm going and how far I've gone so I know when to refuel. Car is so fast that revs arent an issue yet!!!
Got aftermarket gauges for water/oil/boost anyways...

I tried that earth and no difference. In the process of looking into it I found out that my earth wire on the white dash plug appeared to have no continuity. So I disconnected the ground wire to check and turned the ignition and buzzer came on of course. Thing I find strange is all my instruments, warning lights, oil light and temp light all come on too? I assumed this was what the dash earth on the white plug was earth for and these would stop if disconnected? Anyway. I redid the earth and still no joy. I have not tried earthing blue again now the white is definitely earthed properly. Can't see that working though. It kind of seems like the white earth is redundant anyway as it all lights up without it.

Seems strange to me that there isn't a "how to rewire dash cluster" as all 20B owners must face the dead cluster situation...

I followed a link I found on here. But I guess it can be slightly different for each has setup depending on Ecu and how you want to configure your wiring. I.e start fresh or use factory where possible.

Here is the pinout for the FD ECU, X-05, and X-14 connectors along with the circuits we typically connect to for our plug in looms. We have all the connectors available, though they have not been added to the website.

Cluster ground specifically, since it was brought up, goes to the rotor housing in the OE configuration.

I had this diagram to use as well when I did the wiring. Don't think I missed anything. Will try a different earth point. Strange nothing appears different whether it is connected or not. Can anyone confirm if the earth works the dash illumination or if it is purely gauge function. Might help me rule it out or not ad I have the illumination and warning lights. All except fuel gauge. But not sure gauges do anything yet as I am not running!

Cheers
Lee
