Broken off exhaust manifold bolts

I have a friend whose bolts broke off due to weather changes, hot to cold back to hot over the years and he has two bolts in his exhaust manifold that have broken off. One has the bolt head while the other doesnt. Is there an easy way to get them out or does anyone have an idea. I have never had this happen to me before.
Havent seen it first hand but he was telling me about it tonite. Thanks guys for any help.

do you mean the studs on the engine that the exhaust manifold slides on to at the exhaust ports? or is he literally using bolts somewhere? theres a thing you can by (forget what its called) that bites down on studs as you turn it to the left, eventually it will pull the stud out. We had to do this on my brother's SR20 when an exhaust manifold stud got stuck. use lots of PB blaster.
