anyone had issues with 20B Smoking oil?

Hey guys I just picked up a 1994 3 rotor RX7 and was wondering if anyone had issues with smoke through the exhaust. The smoke is coming from the motor, and looks to be oil and fuel mixed in (Black and blue)

The motor is ported and is fully built by a reputable rotary shop in IL, and only has about 4K miles on it. It also has their GT42R Turbo Kit installed.

I assume its bad oil control seals but wanted to see if anyone had any other ideas. Its not coming from the turbo, and the OMP and Oil injectors are removed so they couldn’t be leaking either. The oil pressure is about 60 at idle.

It smokes a little bit pretty much all the time it seems except when accelerating hard, and at idle you can see smoke in the rear view.

Thanks, Brad

Too much premix perhaps? That's my only other guess besides the oil control rings and turbo oil seal.

Thats actually a good point, he told me he was using about 4OZ per tank, I think I will run a few tanks through it withoug premixing and see if that does anything.

thanks Spazzytroy

Hold on there lol. If your OMP is gone you MUST premix EVERY time you fill. Bad things happen with no lube =D

The common rule of thumb is ~1:100, or about 1oz per gallon of gas you put in. I'd just keep running it down, and filling with the correct amount of oil per gas you fill up, that way you slowly lower the ratio. You don't want to run it lower than 1:100. 4oz per tank doesn't seem right either.

EDIT: Actually it looks like Attila is running 25ml / gal (.84oz / gal)

4 oz per TANK is not nearly enough 2 cycle.

Is there a wideband in the car? Could just be running super rich at idle. You also might want to consider a compression test, as 1/4 oz/ga of premix may have caused the apex seals to warp.

What happened with the car? Did you ever figure out what was causing the smoke?

Agreed, 4oz/tank is way too little. Did the smoking get worse over time, or was it like this from the start?
