Anyone actually cool a 20b?

As much as i love 20b cars and reading about them, i find one glaring problem. COOLING. Has anyone actually found a way (in any 20b car) to keep the damn thing running cool? IF so, how the hell did you do it? 500hp and tons of torque sure is neat, but if it can go for 5 min without overheating its no good. Tell me you can make these things work, i know there has to be talented people that have done it!

Define "adequate cooling"...
Big K2RD radiator and dual oil coolers with a custom front bumper should do it.

I don't foresee a problem with 500hp.
I'd think I'd be more worried about my life trying to romp on the pedal and using all of those 500 horses than cooling for the engine.

I have! It is basically what RETed said..
I use a well built motor with oil mods, a big intercooler, dual oil coolers, a custom nose, and custom vented hood, an electric fan and evans coolant.

Thats a good point Ted! So i guess that means its a little crazy to want to put one in a datsun 510 similar to brian feldmans......

I figured you just need really big everything when it comes to the cooling system. But even then, wondered if it could be kept cool. Thanks for the info!

Isnt your 2nd gen the one that was brought on the trailer to the West Coast Caravan to Sevenstock??

So you have problems keeping it cool going down the highway on a cruise? Or sitting in traffic? Im trying to figure out what problems everyone is encountering and design a system to get around those problems (which im sure will not be easy, but being creative can be fun). If you have some more detail on temps and what causes them to go up and down on your car, that would help.

For what its worth, i have a mazdacomp radiator and 2 2nd gen oil coolers on my FC. I also did extensive cutting (dont be scared, it almost looks factory!) and that combination made my car run awesome. Oil temps in the pan is 180 all the time, and the coolant temps are 190 all the time (out of the motor). I also have a FMIC as well. If you want, i can post a pic to help you with some ideas. If not, thats fine

Thanks for your help

Graham

On a slight tanget, this is why I tried REALLY hard to figure out how to run a V-mount setup in my FD, but there simpy isn't space for it, so I'm going with a FMIC. However, I'm still ducting some fresh air to the radiator and I'm trying to make up for the rest with oil cooling.

mine was driven both ways except we put it on the trailer from sevenstock to racing beat to the other side of the grapevine, cause we ended up with 3 cars and 4 people and an empty trailer.

mine runs cool except up in the mountains, on a hard run, where the temp guage starts to move. it will go from 80-90c to 105ish....

I am having no problem keeping my 20b cool on the
hiway even on the hottest days there is no problem.
its just when i get stuck in traffic on a hot day the temp
will start to go up but i hope to have that problem
solved with a better fan setup, which i will be testing
this summer.
