90' or 93' 20B

A friend of mine is selling a 90' 20B with (Greddy t88, exhaust manifold, and wastegate) Transmission and Ecu included for $7000. Is this to much money?

I also would like to know if there is any major diference between the 90 and 93 20B's.

Does the 93 have more power?

Thank's

Luis

The JC Cosmo was rated the same power from its start (Feb-90) till the end (Sep-95).

The first 1000 engines are quite suspect & suffer from premature failure. If the engine plates & rotor housings have 3-numbers only stamped on them, its in the 000-999 bracket. If there is a letter stamped in front then you have a better chance at a reliable engine.

E.G............. C-873 (Engine 4873)

To find out more, check the DMRH web site - JC Cosmo pages

No! Especially if the engine is already rebuilt for that turbo. I've spent $3,800 US for my 20b #D133 including shipping and I got everything you got except the upgraded turbo & accessories.

I'm pretty sure the ECU and trany are Stock. The wastegate I think is HKS.

I'll go the the shop ande take some pics, and ask him if the Engine is ported and I'll check the Numbers 000-999

HKS wastegate

Stock ECU

Stock automatic transmission

Just my opinions, of course. However, why go through all that trouble and expense just to have a 220rwhp engine with a lame automatic transmission that is better suited for your father's Oldsmobile? Basically, just the engine and turbo/manifold/wastegate are useful. How about an intercooler?

You could have covered by saying that you meant it was a stock FD transmission.

The 12A, 13B, and 20B engines can all bolt up to each other's transmissions.

Why is he selling the transmission?

Everything is bolted on. He said he's asking for $8000k but if someone offered 7k he would let it go.

I'm sure he's not in a hurry to sell it, but I guess if someone came along with the cash he'd do it.

He just sold a Cosmo to some guy in Washington (Forum member) and he also sold a RHD Turbo 12A FB to some dude in Aruba for $5000.

And he also owns a RX5 cosmo

I'll take pics of the Engine and get more info

More than a year later, and the engine is still there in his living room. He was going to install it in a first gen, but changed mind. He wants $7500

One of my other friends is thinking about buying it for his FC. I told him to search the forums so he knows what he's getting into as far as total project cost.

BTW: the engine has been rebuilt.

So would you rather buy a front clip for $5500 or this for $7500?
