Can anyone tell me the part number for the front timing cover gasket on a 20B ( not the japanese steel one ) . Is it the same as an FD ?

89 and up rx7 gasket will work on the 20b. As long as it has the larger hole for the teflon ring and small rubber o-ring insert. Hell you can even use the 86-88 models if your good and cutting away the excess gasket material to clear the teflon ring.

Yeah thats the bit I was concerned about , the FD cover gasket sits over the teflon ring so I was wondering if it will ' crush ' down properly and seal . I noticed on my 2nd gen engine plate it has no teflon ring and the gasket hole sits around the rubber o ring .

That doesn't sound like an Fd gasket. Is you Fd gasket black? A true Fd gasket will have the larger hole to clear the teflon ring. Same goes for the 89-91 Rx7 gasket. If that hole is smaller on your gasket, sounds like you have a pre-89 gasket (which will need to be modified a bit). Also the fd gasket has the extra bolt hole on the top that wont match the 20b plate. Don't worry it will still seal fine just trim the excess for visual purposes.

Thats interesting as the part number I have for the gasket is for an FD . Thats why I thought it unusual that it seemed to sit over the teflon ring . I will have to have a look in the cupboard for one that has the larger hole . The gasket I have is orange as well .
