you dont need to intercool when using methanol.

Most 20B drag guys will run straight methanol.

What about a v-mount set up?

I have two different IC's, not sure to go large fmic or use the smaller one and go v-mount. Have a scoot hood and a 99 front end. I'll measure the core sizes and post them.

Thought about doing a v-mount setup and locating an FC type oil cooler in the fmic position. This would give the oil coolers the greatest amount of air.

However, would this cause too much hot air for rad and ic? Haven't heard of anyone doing this.

i'm in the same situation Quad. i know of a DSM front mount that is MASSIVE, but am leary about the pressure drop. the whole idea behind my 42R is a quick spool, (1.15 A/R), so i dont want to contridict it with a massive drop.
i'm looking for a greddy 3 row, or apexi core. there's ebay bar and plates galore, but i highly doubt the quality of such cores.
i'm open for ideas though, if we could get back to the original subject and off the methanol stuff.

the ebay coolers arent bad. THey are bar and plate and really dont look much different than the old griffin B&P I had. The fins arent as tight and little bigger, so there are less bars for the hight, but that would only add up to a fraction of a bar less than the griffin. For under $300 you cant go wrong, Unless your made of money.
Id recommend them, spend the money else where.

Back to the subject, yes!

Where they got methanol from is anyone's guess... I'd swear it was the lounge lol

I'm just curious what people run on GT42's.. I suppose I could ask in the 3rd gen section.

there isnt really much room to run a v-mount. so that pretty much leaves FMIC....

but i second meth. so you dont even have to spend any money on an intercooler :P

Yeah i didnt think there was room left for a V-mount. That only leaves about 3 options: frontmount, air to water, or meth.

I could probably sandwich a v mount into my engine bay since I'm using a modified front plate and electric water pump. The real question is...

What size intercooler do I need to adequately support my GT42R?

if anyone is interested, i've got a used apex ic for sale. it's just the core and endtanks. it's the most efficient ic in the market, it's got the best cooling with the lowest pressure drop. skyline gtr core, 24" x 12" x 3". it's also using the high flowing large radius bend endtanks. pm me if interested, i can also provide pics.
