20B Delorean!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW

Ever seen this before? I never really thought about it, but I guess it makes sense.. awesome looking car with a history (of being slow), make it Wankel-powered! (20B, nonetheless)

Rock on!

Whoa, hold on there...The DeLorean is not slow. It's not fast, but it's not slow either. Anyone who has driven one will agree that it is faster then it should be with the PRV engine...

BTW, the DMC12 was originally designed with the rotary in mind. Production deadlines and EPA testing requirements forced the change to the PRV6.

I had forgotten about that but you're right, I remember hearing about that. It's certainly not quick off the line, 130 hp / 3100+ lbs doesn't quite do it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE these cars as they were made and even with some crazy things done to them (like turbo'd, even 20B'd), but they never got to reach their full potential. That French block isn't the best made for high performance, but it works. I'll certainly have one some time in my life.

The PRV6 is exactly the block used in MANY cars. Alpine, Volvo, Eagle, etc. I don't know all the details, but accross the pond there are MANY people getting crazy power out of them reliably. I have never paid much attention to that engine since I don't do pistons, but it's certainly not a dead end. It's just that over here, the same parts and expertise isn't available.

I thought I'd bring this thread back. It died too early since it was such a cool car. The original web page for it is http://www.eliseusa.com/rotary.htm
