I remember seeing this pic before, and wondered..

Are the wastegates and actuators still present for each turbo? I couldn't imagine having that kind of $$$ in a motor , going with decent size triple turbos (T3/T04E x3?) and not using an external wastegate - if anything for safety after the fact. But there doesnt appear to be any provisions for an external WG.. speaking of which - WTF is holding up the turbos? The "manifold"? No external stays or gussets? One little weld holding up all that weight? Wanna place bets where the first breaks are on a hard launch?

And its hard for me to tell in the pics, but are the flanges 1/4 or 3/8? In any case the difference in price would have been neglibile to use a 1/2 flange, and eliminate any possibility of warping and add a more solid base for welding. Doesn't really matter since its probably 304 stainless anyways so it'll break/warp no matter what :P 321 always!

I don't want to sound like I'm bagging, but having made most of the mistakes you possibly can fabricating a turbo system, It pains me to see things this early on that are so contrary to the way I learned, especially with such a beautiful setup. Anyone know where this car/motor is? AUS maybe? Being three years ago I would think it'd be done by now and I'd love to see the finished product.

How could you see these pix before? They were taken recently....problem is engine tech is too lazy to set his digicam's date so it defaults to Jan 1, 1997.

The turbos are supported by brackets and it's using 3 external w/g (not shown). Internal w/g are welded shut and bypassed. IIRC, these are GT25.

It's going into an FC (I wished it was for my car) .

Is it just me or does anyone else think the turbos won't spool until 6K rpm? With turbos that big being powered by only 1 rotor's exhaust I can't imagine it'll have any low end power...

GT25's are pretty damn small. With the right exhaust housing, and proper porting, I bet it will spool pretty damn fast.

They don't look all that small in comparison to the ports and engine itself. Remember that you've got only one exhaust port feeding each turbo; that's an awful lot of exhaust energy that's going to be necessary to spool that thing up to anywhere near its required rpm for measurable boost. No matter what housing or porting you have.

Hmm Maybe it was a different triple turbo 20b ( hehe ya know that is such a played out setup I dunno but the top pic looks so familiar..

Is it an Aussie car? I remember when I worked at Racing Beat there are some serious rotaries built by those guys, and have been for years. I think it was Mazspeed that had some of the nicest. I forget, been a while since I got to flip through a FF&R mag.

FC huh? dayum.... cant wait to see the progress on that bad boy

No site. The engine builder does work on my car. He just sent me pix of his recent "project" to convince me to do the same.

Here's one more recent pix he sent me...this time with the camera's date correctly set.

His shop is http://www.staffsauto.com .
