It should fit pretty well. Are you going to use a front cover motor mount?

rx-3 wagon 20b project

the motor i found is a whole eunos front clip, so i intend on using the existing sub-frame with its motor mounts. i'm gonna get a welder in town to mount the existing cosmo subframe, and new rear-end (probably just a ford 9-inch unless someone has a better suggestion). for now it'll be an automatic (since that's what's one the front-clip), but we'll see what i can do about that.

The reason I asked about the front cover stuff is because the engine can fit in the car using the stock early style front cover. It keeps the front of the engine at the stock location so the extra length (and weight) of the 20B (160mm) can go rearward which sort of helps the weight bias a little.

I did something similar to what I described above, in my 20B project.

Yes, stick with the stock turbos at first. < Which also takes care of the injector and fuel rail issue.

Use an EMS with local support. Australia is a long way to go for help.

This sounds like a great project.

I'd have to disagree with using the stock twins on this type of a project due to a general lack of space on the 3's engine bay (steering components etc). I do however agree that a locally supported ECU can go a long way (pun intended). RETed will crap in our cornflakes for saying this. (I'm not anti-Haltech by the way, I'm just anti-spending money when I can see a cheaper alternative that will work for me)

By the way, have you ultimately decided where and how the engine will fit in the bay? You know, like how far forward or rearward it will be compare to the 13B? Remember, you've got 160mm of extra length to absorb.

i haven't decided where the engine will go, it's got the 12a in it now, and i'm gonna use the cosmo's subframe. it'll most likely go in wherever it needs to so that the hubs are still on center in the front wheel well so that i don't have to cut, unless that's going to require a lot of cutting on the inside of the car. basically, i'm really not sure exactly how i'm gonna do it. if anyone has anyexperience throwing 20bs in rx3s, i'd appreciate the input greatly.

my 20b is on the way

after flipping my truck snowboarding and other financial setbacks, i have finally got my front clip ordered. $4K shipped for the whole cosmo front clip. not too bad. anyway, the wagon is at the shop waiting and the clip is on the way. just thought i'd keep anyone who might have been interested posted. i'll take some more pics as soon as the clip gets here and as the project progresses. ANY advice is welcome. as i've already said, i'm leaving the motor and tranny stock at first, and probably running a ford 9-inch unless someone has a better (and affordable) suggestion. thanks

Are you talking about leaving the 3's tranny stock? It's a good old ribcase. It will work for a while if you don't abuse it.

I've thought about the idea of the 20B in my RX2. I figured that the engine would fit in the bay fine but I always wondered how big of a single could go in there considering the lack of space. Any ideas?
