Wow, prices are getting kinda crazy.
I guess gone are the times when you can get a long block for $2,000.

Those $2K long blocks were in pretty sad shape, and you can still find them cropping up here and there. A better used 20B-REW has, and still does, sell for about $3-4K. This guy is just asking too much.

We got to talk to one of the guys up at Hayes when we were up in Redmond(?) back in 2000, and they claimed they were shipping dozens of 20B's in containers back then and selling them in the $2,000 to $2,500 range.
Now, he could've been blowing this out of his ***, but we gave him the benefit of the doubt...

to be honest with you guys i pay for this engine 6,500 plus 500 shipping to my door, the engine came with the front of the car, now i just took the egine out of the car and it's complete event with the stock turbos, you can make this engine with stock turbos to produce 450rwhp in any fc or fd, rx-7 i'm asking 6800 or best offer just pm, or e-mail me with your offer, buyer is responsible for shipping charges...

Sorry, you paid too much if all you wanted was the engine. Good luck selling it though.

Examples:

$2950 for 20B-REW long block
http://www.nippon-motors.com/mazda.htm

$2700
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=334660

$3500
https://www.rx7club.com/20b-forum-95/20b-sale-342432/

$3800
https://www.rx7club.com/20b-forum-95/20b-sale-36-000-miles-100993/

etc.

That's entirely possible, but I never saw one advertised, nor did I ever hear of anybody buying a 20B from them. Regardless, I think we can both agree that $6,800 OBO is nowhere near consistent with used 20B-REW sales prices over the last few years.

not to come across poorly but for that kind of money i recommend offerring rebuild info and compression numbers (use a mazda tester). Oh and engine number....

yes, 25,ooo miles is a baby but it's a baby that has been sitting in a coma of sorts.

hey what will you settle for? maybe i'll take a second one .

You state you paid $6,500 + $500 for the front clip?
Then ask $6,800 for "complete" engine?
Man, I guess typical rules of economics just doesn't apply to your case.
Now you've dropped price to $5,500?
Man, you're a saint.
Good luck!
