i got the flanges in my hands and test fitted them. Wow, all i can say is mad props to TT Rex 7 (ALEX) as they fit perfect and completely as planned. I hope others on the forum that can appreciate quality work, inquire with you if they need any machine work done.

It is nice to have a car enthusiast build custom pieces as they understand what is important instead of just a normal machine shop capable of producing pieces from a blue print.

Thanks again and i can't wait for the intake runners.

For the family men out there who would appreciate this. My wife just gave birth to our 3rd child and our second son this morning. 9lb 11oz RX-7 fanatic. Or at least he will have to be if he wants me to let him drive the 7 to his prom. Unless gas or roads are no longer available

This will hold up progress for this week but i will be going strong after the weekend.

I got my front mount radiator for the water to air intercooler in today. I ended up getting PWR to build it and i was very impressed except for the slightly bent fins on a brand new radiator core. I made it clear that it was to be built as a show piece but i guess they didn't understand. The shitty part is the inside of the radiator core is perfect so all they had to do was weld the tanks on in the opposite direction.

I sent back my Meziere 20gpm pump in exchange for a 55gpm pump since the water to air intercooler after second guessing the design. I am sure the smaller pump would have worked fine but the 55gpm pump actually fits better and it can't hurt, except for the minimal extra current draw!

Any way, i am keeping on track. I have to have pwr build me a custom sized set of oil coolers but that should be all the custom parts needed (except for the motec built wire harness). I am still planning on having the motor dyno'ed and in the car running by the middle to end of April. Keeping fingers crossed.

I would like to reverse my recommendation for Aasco performance for building a custom flywheel setup. I do believe they can do a really good job but my flywheel come in a couple of days ago and i was not happy at all. I called them and they simply said that what i now have will work just fine.

Here is part of the story. First of all, it took 8 months to get the clutch setup the first time and after several phone conversations back and forth, there answer to the time frame was that i was getting a cusom flywheel setup. Ends up after i got the flywheel the ring gear was like 1/4" offset incorectly for my starter and the clutch pack was .2" in the wrong direction which does not allow for the proper space between the pressure plate and hydraulic bearing. I called them to rectify the situation and they seemed more than willing, i was then told that the flywheel was an off the shelf piece with a reverse cut ring gear and they would make me a custom flywheel at no charge, just send that one back and it will take 1-2 weeks.

Well the new fly wheel come in today, it turns out all they did was remove the pressure fitted ring gear, turn down the flywheel (half assed) and weld a flat ring onto the ring gear to offset it correctly and re-tapped the flywheel to bolted the ring gear on. When the ring gear was welded, it was not perfect so they had to machine both sides in order for it to be true so now i have a slightly skinnier ring gear than standard and on the one side where the teeth are angle cut for starter engagement, it goes from normal size to little and then to no angle cut at all from them machining the sides to take out the wobble without re-cutting the relief cuts. Also, the ring gear is 035" out of round or oblong which will probably throw out the balance and possibly make a little starter noise. Also the flywheel come in cod with a $150 charge. (after bitching they agreed to tear up the check when they get it!)

I would agree that the flywheel will work, i am just upset that the first flywheel i got looked top notch with a pressure fit ring gear machined onto the flywheel. The new setup looks like poop as it is slightly heavier, out of round and in my opinion half assed. Also the fact that initially i was lied to about them having to make me a custom flywheel (8 month wait) and then the broken promise to custom make one the second time and better yet at no charge. Now i asked them to make me a custom flywheel like i was expecting the first time and they want $650 and can offer not a penny credit towards the flywheel i already paid for. Did i mention the the clutch set up that took 8 months cost me almost $4000. So you see, i did not get a deal and would be interested to see how much of that went towards the so called custom made flywheel!

Sorry for rambling on. Just don't feel comfortable praising a company that I do not feel treated me fare.

I know I pretty much have no business in here, seeing that I have nothing more than an N/A FC and a 280ZX, but dude you got screwed on that whole flywheel thing hard. I'm not sure how much it would cost, but I'm sure you could have someone like ACT custum build you a flywheel to your needs. Granted, it would cost a ****-ton, but it would be less of a hassle. Anyway, sorry if I'm a dumbass, I'm just making a suggestion. Best of luck.

Alright boys and girls, feast your eyes on this!





If your wondering why there's holes along the center of the runner, that's where it was bolted down to the fixture. The original plan was to just weld the holes up, smooth it back out, then send it off to get polished. However, Rich and I have now changed that due to the possibility of the welds "bleeding" through after being polished, causing 6 dots to appear down the sides of the runners. I decided to machine up some clamps to hold the runner to the fixture on either side. This will allow me to clamp it down on one side, while cutting the other sides radius. Then I can just switch the clamps to the other side, and cut the other radius.

This is only half of a runner, in which i'm sending to Rich to insure it clears his hood before I start actually machining all the primarys.

If your wondering why I machined a pocket in the center, it's so I can just run the bandsaw straight between the runners to seperate them. Then I can run the bandsaw around each of the runners to get rid of the extra material. Pocket just makes the process easier!

Don't worry though, I have some 1/2" 6061 laying around for your nitrous brackets! When do you need them by?! My plan is to have your intake manifold done by the 24th. I'm going on vacation, and won't be back till 31st-2nd. As far as your thermostat housing, I have the cover ready to go, but I'm still working on the housing. I'll probably try and squeeze this in before I go on vacation, as I know you need it with the intake manifold.

Rich, it's 4:21 am here, so I'll be cutting the back side of the runners another day. I was hoping to complete the runners tonight, but time was against me. I'll be finishing the last 2 halfs of the primary runners tomorrow night. If everything goes well, I'm hoping to cut the outside of the 4 halfs as well. This weekend I'll be cutting the 2 primarys that are joined together, and then all the primarys will be finished! I'll be getting started on the secondary runners Monday!

Actually, they're really fancy water bowls. There's this stray cat that comes by the shop every few nights, so I filled it up with water so it could have a drink!

I'm working on it! I should be finished with Rich's intake manifold in the next week or so. Get some things together for me, and I could get started on yours at the beginning of the month!
