The key turns, the starter motor comes alive. Suddenly the brisk sound of a 13B tears out the foggy cold Upstate air.

Well, I found that this 156hp+ GSL-SE goes quite fast. Actually, it gets up and goes faster than my barnstormer 626, although the 626 beats it in the top endi (it takes time to get 2700 pounds of MAZDA steel in motion)

Here are engine specs of GSL-SE:

1986 13B
1984 GSL-SE tranny
new seal kit from MAZDA
2.5" dual exhaust, twin cats, no muffler dual exit
1986 electronics, etc.

Wiring it up was pretty easy, like my 626.

Basically, from the firewall forward, the car think's it's a 1986 RX-7, from the firewall back, it think's it's a GSL-SE.

I love the tossability of the car. Very fun to drive.
