I think all of the relevant points have been pretty much covered here. However, on the point of educating children about guns to prevent injury, just look at it this way.

Why do we teach our children not to run into the street? This is because cars are dangerous. Since we will not be living in a world without cars, we teach our children to respect them. Likewise, we live in a world where guns will always be present. We teach our children to respect all types of danger in an effort to protect them: dogs, strangers, running with sharp sticks in their hands, etc. The list could go on forever. Why, exactly, should guns be different?

I was given a .22 rifle by my Father for my 12th Birthday. It was the same rifle that was given to him, by his Father, for his 12th Birthday. Can you guess what my son will be getting for his 12th? Guns should be understood and respected, fear is useless. Just my thoughts on the matter.

First he's seriously lucky, not me. I had the situation under my control because I had a gun. I'm just glad I didn't have shoot him. Point is, it's a safety tool that did it's job and I used it properly without being hot shot hero in the jail house.

As usual there's no way to win against the anti-gun people. Most are unwilling to accept anything that contradict their own views. Let people rob me, that's the answer. Maybe next time I won't get stabbed, right? Hey since your stuff is up for grabs during the holidays, would you send me your address? I could use some free stuff at your expense.

Balisong or butterfly knives...Yes, Im filipino so its part of the tradition.

Other weapons...my son is now a blackbelt so it is required.. single to double sticks, kali, silat etc etc.

GUNS: Not yet, after he turns 18. Im hoping he will join the military so he can get free training and discipline.

This thread isn't relevant to 1st Gen Rx7s and really isn't contributing to the community (unlike that "You know you're a 1st Gen Owner When..." thread).

I'm going to close it to make room for more relevant threads.

Sorry Guys, had to happen some time. We like to think we're pretty open in the 1st Gen section, but take Gun discussions to Gun forums.
