Yet another stupid question before I jump in.

Here is the lame question of how much does it cost to make it fast.

I have a Integra GS-R that is about 2850#'s and about 150 - 160 hp to the wheels that I run on the track and sometimes on the street when my SUV (yuck!!) is really boring me. However, I cannot for the life of me get into front wheel drive, so it has to go.

I am going to buy a 81+ and do suspension and brakes, but I am sure that the measly 110hp that these come with is going to not be enough. So here is my question, What is the cost and is it even possible to make this car be a bit faster than my Integra, not be stupidly loud, and be somewhat reliable? Tall order?

I have no problem doing the work myself so I am not concerned with cost of labor other than machine work, and I will buy a rx-7 that is in good running order to start with.

Thanks for taking the time to answer this!

it is quite easy to make it faster than an integra.. free flowing exhaust, new carb and intake. porting your engine would help a lot too

i'd say a turbo or supercharger will be needed to get that hp

remember this car only weighs in at 2385lb too. its not just horsepower but power/weight ratio you need to look at.

Not to bust your ball or anything but an Integra GS-R is not really that fast. (I had one) Wish I would have kept the 5.0 instead, but then I got my first RX7.
But back to your question,

Try to find one with a bad motor so you can get it cheaper. Buy a 13b rotory and have it street ported with a good carb and maybe run a MSD setup.
You could even go to a turbo set up if you want, but a good streetport should be fine.

Hope this helps

if you have a good street port, then you will be able to get faster than the integra without going to forced induction.. i have a street ported 13b, stock niki carb, and a free flowing exhaust, and quite frankly i could kick the pants off that car.

What is the best way to get a 81+ with a 13b? What year 13b motor are you running?

i am runing a 13b out of a '78 rx-4.. it is the old 4port style.

your best bet is to try and find an 81 with no motor, or one that is almost dead or what not.. that way it will be less expensive.. as far as finding a motor, look in the junk yards or talk to people who are parting out their cars..

You can get 160hp easily out of a 12A with a street-port, free flowing ehaust and the right intake setup.
