Yet another exhaust question...

alrighty..i got money to ge tthe 237 dollar RB muffler. but, another option i was thinkin of is runnin 2.5 inch pipe from my header, into a magnaflow muffler, then into an N1 muffler at the end...any body have any ideas of power gain or sound? which should i go with...i know how racing beat sounds and i know the quality...but the other one is tempting...i want it a little bit louder than racing beat and as deep as i can go. thoughts and comments please...

Rotaries + N1 mufflers sound like angry bumble bees.

if you run the magnaflow AND the n1 it won't sound like bumblebees. that's almost my old setup and it was friggin awesome. sounded soooo good. BUT, i am about to purchase an rbmuffler. if you do have the money for it, i would get it.

the rb muffler is awesome, but if that is all you have(no headers, or free flow cat) than you pretty much wont hear any kind of exhaust note........i am ordering the bonez cat pipe in another month or two....God bless

If you must have the N1 muffler, atleast use the RB pre-silencer, then have a good exhaust guy use a heavier tubing, not the standard thin-wall aluminized crap.

this cheap stuff creates additional noise through resonation of the material itself...

then have him plumb to the N1 muffler you want to use,
i would suggest you do a mid-pipe-over axle set-up so you can simply unbolt the center secton from the part going over the axle, and the pre-silencer.

screw bonez

I just had a dual outlet full stainless Magnaflow put in place of my rusted out original. It looks awesome and is suprisingly quiet. I have virtually no resonance inside the car and it is no louder than my rusty original was. It has a deep tone that won't wake the neighbors even though it is a straight thru design, and the best part is that it has a lifetime warranty! I am very impressed with it and would recommend it to anyone. The exhaust tone is very reserved, nothing like a coffee can on a civic. Just keep in mind that my exhaust is all stock besides the muffler, so if you have no cats it will be louder than mine is. Good luck!

My exhaust consists of.. RB headers into turbo II muffler (in middle of car), out through a 3.5" Can. 2.5" piping and Very Very Very Very loud with out the silencer, acceptable but still annoying with it in. Power gains were huge, but i'm in the process of re-doing my exhaust completly.

MindTrain, a little used company (on this board anyways), makes a full exhaust for 12a's.

I got mine through RP from California.

It is quite deep (i think) and is as wide as my friends old magnaflow exhaust for his bronco. It cost me somewhere in the range of $1,100-$1,200 USD. I love it!

On the down side, when I recieved it I had to strip off the "stocking paint" and put on this heat coat paint to keep it from getting too hot.

Just another suggestion for a different kind of exhaust besides RB's.
