Bike rack for my 1st Gen?

I got a nice road bike for christmas but I have no way of transporting it with my 1st gen. I know there is a company that makes racks specifically for the 1st gen rx7's but I cant remember the name. Anyone know there name or a place I could order a bike rack for my car that would fit?

You will need roof rack feet that will adapt to the rain gutters of the RX-7. Then load bars of the desired length that will span the width of the car connecting the feet. Then you can add ski, bike, or basket accessories to the load bars.

Thule and Yakima are two popular manufactures of roof racks and accessories.

I went through the fitment guide from Thule and the 300 Gutter Foot Pack was listed with the LB50 Load Bars.

Yakima also has rack feet that will mount.

Otherwise you would have to mount a 1 1/4" receiver hitch with a carrier.

I just thought of something though, has anyone come a cross a ski rack for the RX-7 like the one on the second Lotus Esprit used in the James Bond movie "For Your Eyes Only" with the Q Ski Rack?

There is (or was) a ski rack like that made for the RX-7; I don't know if it is still available. The Thule is much better, and you can use it for skis, bicycles, or whatever. The gutter feet are somewhat universal and easier to use than the non-gutter type.

I Have one I'll GIVE you if you pay shipping (I have a new one I use on the Miata). It's no name brand but I used it on my 7 w/ no problems. BTW: If you fold the passenger seat forward, you should be able to get your bike in the hatch by only removing the front wheel - did that all the time. Let me know if you want the rack.

What did you get, Starke???

Another option to the roof rack would be to get a receiver hitch into which you could place a standard hitch mount bike rack. Probably not the ideal solution to someone only needing to haul bikes around, but if you autocross or do HPDEs, you can also pull a small tire/tool utility trailer (~$150 from Harbor Freight or Northern).
