WTF Wires???

So I was taking apart my shift and I found these wires. WTF are they?

I'm sure to some of you this is a no brainer but I'm confused.

DO NOT PLUG THEM IN!!! It may look like they go to a plug underneath there but if you plug it in it will kill your dash light brightness adjuster (cant think of name right now). it is for the automatic cars to illuminate the letters on the shifter (P, D, N, R, etc).

Just tape them off with electrical tape, no need to cut them.

Were they even causing a problem or did you just happen to run into them doing something else? You don't actually have to do anything except put them back where you found them after you finish whatever other project you were doing...

What's the best way to get to the dimmer switch? I want to hardwire mine and see some illumination for the first time in ages...

I just pried them out with a knife. It tore up the switch some. I'll have to figure out a better way to finesse a replacement out of a junker.

I took a picture but my phone won't upload it. I cut the plug and jumped the top two wires (they are the power wires and the ones you want to jump), soldered them together, shrink-wrapped them. Works like a charm.

Sorry for bringing up a dumb thread but I had no idea and didnt even think of that fully makes sense. But yeah I was just taking out the shifter for Texrx to build me a short shift and I ran into these three wires and thought maybe it would be a good idea to have the guys let me know what this is before I fudge something up. Thus is the story of the "WTF Wires".
