85 GS Fuel pump problem

I've gotta fuel pump problem and i have tried the jumper wire in the relay and I have also unplugged fuel pump and hooked volt meter up and tried starting and it is sending power to connection. I'm guessing that I need a fuel pump. I'm not trying to add performance parts or anything, so I'm wanting to just replace with oem pump. There seems to be plenty of universal pumps. Any pump that anyone would recommend? Lowest stock pump i've found in $138. Found universals for around $45 to $80. Can anyone help me with this ?

the universal pumps work just fine.
if you want to keep everything nice and original $138 probably isnt bad for a stock pump if you have the $$. they bolt up real nice, the universal ones just kind of hang there.

Go with the oem one, it's plug and play. An aftermarket often requires replumbing of the fuel system and a fuel pressure regulator. More work for very little savings.

Carquest offers an excellent replacement pump made by airtex that has a lifetime warranty. I have used theirs with no problems. The universal pump you are refeering to are for Carb'd applications.

Yea, my universal pump has the same pressure rating as the oem, no reason for a regulator that I can see.

As far as 'just hanging there' and replumbing, pick your part and make yourself a mount adaptor. Not the most complicated thing in the world.

Pressure is one thing, volume is another. The universal pumps for the Se are not worth a **** for long term reliability. Anything less than the OEM type replacement is not worth the hassle. The OEM type replacement bolts into the same location with no modification and has the correct fittings.
