WRX Muffler

Has anyone put a WRX muffler on a first gen RX-7? I might be able to get my hands on one for cheap but wanted to check it first.

Any thoughts?

I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra Vspec SER on my 84. Quiet as hell and still has the dual outs.

I thought they had to be stainless, or you would burn them up....Right???

Right, with a few modifications! The fact is that over time, only Mazda OEM, Racing Beat etc, and stainless can withstand the heat. (Ok, we are not talking 20 years here, all of the stated ones will eventually need changing)

Others, read non-stainless, will last for some time, but sooner or later, they will burn. And its not the muffler itself that burns, its the material its packed with!

In my opinion, its cheaper to go for a known quality that you know will work on your rotary, in stead of changing cheap aftermarket ones every other year. Another benefit with for instance Racing Beat, is that they are made especially for the 7, and will give you the best amount of value for money in the long run.
Fitment is not an issue, and performance/soundlevels are in my opinion the best compromise you will get. That said, you can get better performance if you make your own, but you will have a hard time getting it smog passed and it will be LOUD!

It would be a stock WRX muffler.

Thanks for the thoughts - I thought there may be something with stainless vs. non-stainless. Can't remember where I read that but I figured someone else on here would know!

better of getting something else, the mufflers are very restrictive.

WRX muffler should be fine. Its made to high OEM specs. Much better than some eBay cheapo muffler.

i do not think so. the WRX is turbo after all and produce just as much exhuast temps. (higher IIRC, even).
