would this idea work?

I am looking for somewhere simple to install a cheap autozone water temp gauge I got (mech). Well anyhow, my idea is as follows: I have a cap on the line that went to the beehive before I installed the fmoc. Well I was wondering if I could drill out this cap and place the water temp probe there, would this work? And if so, would it read accuratly or cooler then reality?

Not a good idea. There isn't enough metal on the tube to tap for threads and if you cut the tube flush with the block to tap, you get into cast iron, not a good metal to tap at home.

Best place to tap is the land on the back side of the waterpump housing, near the exisiting coolant sensor. If you don't use the choke, buy the adapter to mate the sender to the spot for the coolant sensor.

i put mine in behind the water pump also, or you can find a brass "T" fitting and install both so you can keep yer choke

I didn't mean that I was going to tap the metal. But tap the plug I put on the open pipe end after I removed the beehive.

And if I used a tfitting, it seems that it would need to be pretty specific for the application, know of anyone that makes one?
