Transmission leaking from case seperation

I pulled my tranny out the other day to fix the stuck in fifth gear problem. I pulled the case apart, fixed it and got it shifting into every gear, and put it back together and back into the car. The next day I noticed it was leaking fluid from between the case sections. Did I not tighten it up enough or should I have put some kind of gasket between the pieces before I put it back together? Thanks in advance for any help.

i used clear silicone when i did my second gen tranny swap, just put it on both pieces, and let it get tacky before you put the together then torque to spec.

If you use Silicone,at least give it a chance to get a little tacky, then Proceed to put the Parts together..Allow for the Silicone to Cure too, about 24 hours( Or a Good Drunk and hangover Duration!).If you Throw it together and decide to Run it,It could Leak again..(happened on my buddy's trans.,So we tried the TACKY method..worked Fine.)..you could always Make a paper gasket the Old school way,With gasket material and a Ball peen hammer. That would work Just Fine too.
