you have to cut the bottom section of the bins OR cut the frame but thats something I wont do.

You have to replace the sheet metal that the bins mount to. But because the 79 has a brace that interferes with the storage bin, you either have to remove the brace or cut away that part of the storage bin that would interfere with the brace. The later cars do not have that brace.

The storage bins, at least in my '85, are just loose bags. It wouldn't be too pretty but they'd be able to stuff in there. I've seen it done.

I haven't checked personally, but the '79-80 coverplate looks like it mounts up in the same locations as the '85 coverplate. If not, the coverplate is just thin sheetmetal, piece of cake to drill new holes into.

ive done it for a few customers.. i have the upholserty shop modify the bins so they clear the chassis.. a little trimming on the sheet metal and it fits nicely too
