Worth It?

I'm thinking of buying an '85 1st gen GSL. It has power windows, p/s, sunroof, cloth seats, a/c and cassette. It was painted about 1-2 yrs ago and has not been driven much since. It has a brand new clutch, and new brake drums. It has about 85,000 miles. The back bumper is flaking in one spot and the wheels aren't in very good condition. The dealer is asking $3500 for it. Is it worth it? Is there anything I should ask about to lower the price?

Drums on a GSL??? That's not right. The dealer has his head up his *** or the car's been played with.

To lower the price, bring him a copy fo the blue book. $3500 is WAY out.

no kidding.. that's not a GSL if it has drums, AND even if it WAS a GSL, I wouldn't pay more than $1500 for it with 85k on it. My friend just paid $1200 for a 60k mile GS in great shape (I think it has one little rust spot on the car).

That sucker would have to be around 30k miles to get $3500 for it.

Red face hmmmm......

I paid $1,400 for my GS. When I bought it, the odo had just passed 100,000 mi. Still runs strong This afternoon I'm going to change the fuel filter and fix something in the rear end. (find out where the noise is coming from first, nothing major though.) Just bought new tires for it, rides smoother now. Guess my old tires were not balanced right......

did you get it???

did you find out if you were mistaken on the drum brakes??? As you can see, we all know that the "GSL" had disc brakes and I find it odd that they may ???? have drum brakes. Yeah, 3500 too much for sure...2K sounds more like it ...maybe.....but I can see the car and don't know enough about it...These are good cars though...make sure it was taken care of mechanically...Good luck.............cjf

yes that is definately too much. I let my 85 GSL go for 1500 and that was near mint condition. The leather was still SOOO nice. And yes it had 4 wheel discs.
