Thumbs up It Worked!

You might recall I posted a topic asking for an opinion on the car I had accquired. After taking the advice on which wires went where, and me replacing the Ignition Coils, I finally got it to start. It won't stay running though, I have to hold the choke at full. I'm going to change the oil, spark plug wires, spark plugs, and try and get my hands on a new carb because I know the Niki is shot.

There was a crap load of smoke coming from it and the Exh. Overheat light stayed on the whole time with this annoying warning sound.

If anyone can give me suggestions, let me know!

Also, I love how it sounds like a lawn tractor.

That annoying overheat light is to tell you that your catalytic converters are clogged...

Yeah,

Is it an SE? If the rats nest is removed just put a peice of straight pipe there or buy a cat replacement pipe from Racing Beat.

It's just a GSL. I've had it for about a year and finally decided to buy a starter and get it going. It started up rather quickly once the coils and starter were installed, and it say for god only knows, I think 7 years before I bought it.

The rat's nest is still there. How much will that affect my emissions, because they're starting to get tight on that new restriction thing.

The rat's nest is just the emissions equipment on the Rotary engines, if you see an engine without it you'll know why it just looks that much cleaner and more effecient without it.

Pen Two, try replacing the catalytic converter with a straight pipe and see if the light goes off, I don't know if it detects the catalytic converter is there too or not.

Alright, I'll take car of that after I change the 8 year old oil, spark plugs, and spark plug wires.

I'll let you know how things turn out tomorrow. Thanks again Tech.

Ok, so I tried to take off the cat and check it out. I could not get the bolt loose, which was expected considering it has had no maintenaence in forever. I started to disassemble it from the header, because I plan on getting the full RB performance Exh. So I put quite a bit of force on the bolt and eventually I got the bolt. With about an entire section of my exhaust.

This was my wonderful work area:

And this is what I recieved from my work:

Now call me a skeptic, but I think that's rusted.
