Wont stay tuned?
Wont stay tuned?
So the car finally runs, and I'm trying to tune the carb, but nothing I do seems to last.
Let me explain first, the carb is mech. secondaries, no emissions, with an AP mod. Currently all vacuum ports are capped off, not even the vac. advance is hooked up. I can fully warm the car up and get the idle set, get the mixture set and drive around. Once I shut the car down for a while and it cools off the next time I start it it doesnt want to idle again. I have to keep it alive until its fully warmed up and reset it again. And its always idled too low the next time it starts, never idled too high. Once I set it though I can get it to purr at 750, but it never lasts.
Is the lack of the vacumm advance a contributing factor to this? Its not the screws on the carb I dont believe. They always look to be in the same place. Any suggestions or what to look for?

Yea I tried 900 today. Still the same. Compression is excellent.
I started sprayin carb cleaner around the carb when I got home. I suspect the spacer gaskets to be leaking when the car is cold and what I'm experiencing is actually a vacuum leak.

I just found a vacuum leaking using starting fluid. Spray it on one area around the carb base at a time. When the RPMs rise you have your leak. I also had a fuel pressure issues, whci caught me by suprise. Does not sound like thats your issue, but may be worth checking.
well, you need to share the wealth man :P, nah, but i am curious as to what this is, where i can get it and most importantly will it work for my nikki? lol.
