wont start-carb leak(pic?)

Alright. I hop in my car this morning and i get it going and its idleing at about half of what it usually does when i start it with the choke and so i start to back out and it dies 15 feet later...it won't start...

I replaced the fuel filter...now...it still won't start. its turning over just not igniting i guess...the spark plug wires are fine. the primaries i believe(the smaller holes in the carb) are putting out a little bit of gas still.

But, my dad found the carb was leaking on the driver side. I have a pic of it but i have no idea how to post it here...can someone just host it for me? i'll send via msn or aol. THANKS!!!!

Well, i think i figured out the pic thing....its the part where the arrows are pointing...kinda tough to see it really. i was just hoping someone with some great carb expertise would be able to tell me what i need to do to fix this leak. I'm beginning to think its just gonna need a full rebuild. But, yeah, when i hit the gas while trying to start the car, the gas just kinda leaks outta that lil piece. Notice theres like a middle piece and leaks between the middle piece and the wall. this is on the driver side btw.

That is the accelerator pump. It is the first thing that starts leaking usually. You need a carb rebuild. You can get the kit at any auto parts store such as auto zone for around 30 bucks.

Thanks...i don't have the knowledge or the time for the rebuild so its going to the Honda dealership in the morning...they rebuilt my last honda carb and did an awesome job. there's one guy there that knows about the nikki and is actually excited to be able to rebuild it for me. so it should be done by tomorrow afternoon and it won't be very expensive...he quoted it at $150 plus rebuild kit

Whew! That's good. When I read Honda dealership, a bunch of red flags went up.

That sounds pricey for a carb rebuild.

I can rebuild it for you for $75 plus the kit.

Well, I saw when you'll have it done. I can't get it done THAT fast. I'd be wary, though, that the guy can get the rebiuld kit so fast.

I would need at least that long to get to where you are to GET your carb, though

yeah...lol...i wish you coulda been able to help me with it. thing is-i need the car back as fast as possible cuz i have two jobs and school so i am using my dad's truck right now and he is getting a ride to and from work...really sucks. but oh well, after the rebuild it should be a better car.

but, jay, maybe sometime we can meet up somehow and have a little fun...maybe in ruidoso?(halfway and lots of fun roads-and also lots of prickish cops)
