whats better body kit or no body kit

Just wondering what is the general opinion out there about body kits? like it or not.. the same with wide body?

I think there are a few good ones out there but i think they did it right from the start. One day i am going to put a different front bumper and maybe a fin but im going to think long and hard..

this was for sale on ebay a while back and i think he did a good job

He did a good job on the body. If anything, I'd say the rear spoiler is a bit much... The simple stock wrap around looks better IMHO.

I wonder what rear end that is.

Other aspects of that car NEED to go... The 1 wiper conversion, the steering wheel and shift ****, and the antenna.

whatever package the clean stock body lines with some cool wheels lowered a bit looks pretty good. and the colour of the car plays a big part. i know anything from mariah is made well and fitment is good. i really like the old pacifica wide body kit.
because it's not too wide it's just perfect.

I love widebodies. Not a big fan of the other kits, but if I had the money, I would get a mariah widebody kit. Instead, I'm making my own. It won't be too wide, but wide enough to house 215's in the front and 235's in the rear.

I don't understand why somebody would invest so much time and money in a kit installation just to turn around and sell the car. When I see stuff like that, it makes me wonder how terrible of a job must have done for the owner to want to sell it. Then again, from the owner's description, he ain't operating with a happy meal with all its fries anyway. glx-se?

I love the look of a body kit...but it like many other things must be done right...you need a good kit like from mazdatrix...a nice coat of candy apple red...17's with a one inch lower and your set... http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/301177

There are "ground effects" & then there are "wide body kits". I've had both. I like the Mariah air dam, side skirts & minimal lip spoiler OR Mariah One which is more drastic & costs losts more. DO NOT put a whale tail on a stock body w/ just an air dam unless you have at least a bridge ported 13B under there. Just my thoughts.

The second picture it is too dark, but the car in first picture she needs a wide body kit.
"There are ground effect kits and wide body kits."
They are not mutually exclusive. The purpose of the wide body kit is to get wider tyres under the car. The stock wheelwells are not big enough and narrow tyres simply spin without developing traction. The purpose of a ground effect kit is to keep the car on the ground. They like to get airborne at speed and downforce helps too, though many sactioning bodies restrict sizes of the spoiler. A whale tail adds more drag, but it could be useful. Even a car with 180 hp NA streetport engine could benefit from it, not necessarily bridge port.

I am FOR 'bodykits' as you've described. I think they help to update the appearance of the car and also help the owner to individualize their car to be something memorable and unique. For me, it was a chance to be my own car 'designer' and choose parts that I thought went well together for a finished appearance. This meant finding parts that looked right and then performing the mechanical work to get the whole package working well together.

Widebody kits are too much for my needs; street-driven, daily-driver, NO track use. Otherwise, I like simple aerodynamics mixed with functional scoops and wings, where necessary:

What a think look badass are the new Porsche 911's. I love how they are so wide in the back, it's just like WHAM. I love the looks of that. Someone should do that with a first gen but just the back, that would look so insane. I ganked this from cardomain but you get the idea. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/293017

I found that the ground effects I first put on my 81 street ported 12A helped w/ top speeds of up to 120 or so. After that she still was "light". Other than that, Ground effects looked like sweet street racing. This is good.

Going widebody is costly if you do it right. So that kinda assumes youve got $$ into the car's perfromance, which of course goes hand in hand with the widebody look.I like the look of the stock body too,if done with taste...maybe some mild fender flares if you need the traction.

A flared out, high buck widebody job on a 101hp 1st gen is pointless, and anyone who does that should be driving a Civic DX with a Combat Wing.

Heh,heh,Lee.....Red,17's,lowered,...OK here ya go!

Body kits kick ***, in most cases. They make your car look all beefy. As the same time...some body kits add weight. It's all a matter of what you want more. Looks or performance. But if you have a monster under the hood that can totally haul *** no matter what kind of body kit is installed, then you have no worried. Go for Mariah. They make body kits like no other...Gawd...beautiful

That is interesting. Normally the aerodynamic effect is stronger with increasing speed. The faster you go, the more "pushed down" to the track.

They add weight and even more importantly add drag. The drag is more pronounced at higher speeds. But because staying on the ground, transferring power to the rear wheels, and maintaining traction are part of performance, the net effect of the body kit should be "more" performance, along with the looks either good or bad.

i would like one, but i agree with most people that if you dont have the performance dont go "show", and get a kit

I love the back on that ebay "gxl-se", the orangish reddish one. Yes single wiper, shift ****, and the steering wheel would have to be thrown out. I don't think the front really matches the back...but the back is awesome to me, and the wheels.
