Wondered why it sputtered
well, I got around to changeing the fuel filter today and as usual I had a fuel spill.
So I pulled the car out and grabbed a torch and tried to light the gas on the ground.
Held the flame to the puddle for a good amount of time and the puddle didn't light at all.
I guess that would be the reason this car isn't wanting to run right.
Two and a half years of sitting will do wonders to gas.

When I bought my current project(early 79 GS)it had been sitting 5 years, and I didn't dare try to start it.We drained the tank, and to my surprise the fuel looked, and smelled pretty good.So good in fact that my friend took the drained fuel, and burned it in his Suzuki Swift. He said it ran great, and the mileage was the same as regular gas at the pumps.I wonder if the previous owner of my car used a stabilizer? He was crazy about winter storage of the car.

just let it sit for about a month with a lil water in the tank. I am a diesel tech also...so few of us but I guess the pay makes up for it.
