wiring harness mess (lots of PICS)

ok so i removed the wiring harness that starts underneath the brake master cyl and leads to the engine ( front engine harness) and before i removed it i labled all the connectors that i had hooked up prob only like 4-5 where hooked up....my plan was to remove all the extras wires i wasnt using. so i pulled out the haynes manual and a archive by jeezus to compare and i found that my connector lookes nothing like the diagrams shown? all the wiring colors, locations and amount of wiring is off? so the plan now is to remove all the lines i didnt lable but i didnt lable ground like a idiot.... can anyone look at the pics and id ground or direct me to a diagram that can help other than hanyes.
p.s car is a cali 83 rx7 but im running after market carb and no smog

The Haynes manual is the LAST place I'd go for wiring data... They are too generic and too abbreviated, always leaving out intermodel variations.

Here's the first place I'd go:

Hey man i just got done rewiring my whole car. It is an 85 though. I'm not sure if the wiring will be different because of the years. My guess is yes. I can tell you where my grounds were if that will help I used a really good manual call "Workshop Manual". I would differently recommend it to anyone that has an rx7. It has the best wiring diagrams I have ever seen. Ask any questions and I'll do my best to help you.

The engine harness doesn't really have a ground conductor... the whole engine and chassis is 'ground.' Electrical components on the engine ground to the block.

The engine is grounded via the negative battery cable, which attaches at the battery, then the left strut tower, and finally at the starter mounting bolts.

On the '80, there is a black 'ground' lead that goes from engine block ground (near the rat's nest), through the engine harness connector (X-01) and directly to the ECU... but this is the ECU's ground reference lead, that it uses to establish a base ground value - - it's not a "ground point" and you shouldn't hook anything else to it for grounding purposes.

I don't know if the '83 is exactly the same - - looking at your wiring diagram would tell you, though.

Black with no stripe is almost always ground.
