wiring harness 2nd gen into 1st gen!!!! HELP!!!
awwwwww man....... i need help with the wiring harness from my 2nd gen into my 1st gen!!!!!! i tried the search function...... really i did. i found links that direct me to the instafinder.com page....... or a 440 error? or not found. well anyway i got everything i need to complete the swap ........ the engine is an 86 13b and im putting it in an 83 rx7. i have removed the entire wiring harness from my 2nd gen..... its a crap load of wires!!!!!!!! so yeah i looked at BoostedRotors thread about 13tII swap into 1st gen........ but it goes into just talk and links that dont take me anywhere...... maybe its just my old web browser and cpu. but anyway
i need help tying in the wiring harness to the 1st gen harness and get the freakin 1st gen running !!!!!! the reason i want to go FI is because i have no money to buy a manifold and a carb. please someone come to my cars rescue and help me get it going !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have everything ....... i just need indetail description of the whole wiring harness part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FB+FC=F-ME
You need to search, its been covered a million times......yes,its not all covered in one thread, and there are a few ways to approach the job.My method copies the stock FC setup, while not violating the FB wiring in anyway. Its also probably the easiest and requires only minimal wiring fabrication.
For starters, you DONT need to cut or splice into the FB wiring.
The big right side FC harness goes directly from the engine to the ECU,simple and easy.
Use the huge FC underdash wiring harness for raw materials only, you dont need to install it.You only need to run 10-15 wires from that harness,to power the ECU,coils,CAS and fuel pump. The actual number of wires depends on if you just want the engine to run,or if your going for 100% factory/smog legal status.I did and I passed CA smog no problem, with both my S4 and S5 swaps. The FC underhood fuse block and main ECU relay should be used when making the custom left side harness. It will make things very simple and it replaces the old style fusible links on the 1st gen.
The FB gauges will work just fine with the FC engine. The sending units have different values for some 2nd gens, but they are in the same place on the engine as the 1st gen.And the 1st gen sending units can usually be substituted, keeping the 1st gen instruments happy. Its a minor job and requires no cutting or splicing of the 1st gen wiring.
Do a search, theres lots of info and insight about this job.Take a look at the S5 FSM for the EFI wiring. It might be for the 89-91 cars, but all the custom wiring needed on the left side,is the same for all 2nd gens. Its here,on page F1-8.....all the custom stuff is on ECU plug #1 and is concentrated near the bottom, starting at the battery.

If you cant make sense of this diagram, print it, blow it up into a poster, do whatever.....its about the most straight forward, simple guide to wiring an FC EFI engine, and it doesnt have any extraneous wiring from the rest of the car,to confuse you.Everything there is related to making the engine run and nothing else. There are a few items that arent 100% needed for correct operation,or even smog legal status.Ive covered color and location of these wires in past posts, you should be able to find the threads, its been less than a year.......

love the braaaap
I had a text file with the exact colours of the wires that need to be spliced into the 1st gen harness, but I lost it. I went through this back when I thought I was going to keep my 88 6 port fuel injected, but ran into problems with the FI system on the engine. Never did figure out what the problem was, but I know it wasn't my wiring.
