removing broken bolts?
Whats the best method to remove broken bolt? I know easy out are preaty nice but I tryed that. I suppose I could just drill right through it, but then what about the thread? will a helix coil really help? helix coil and some thing to hold it in??
The bolts that broke off are hold the lower front fenders in front of both doors. Freaking "saltachusetts"

Use a drill bit that is a few sizes smaller then the threads of the bolt. Drill it in a ways (at least 1/4 inch) , then set it to reverse and if you're lucky it'll catch the shaft of the bolt and back right out. Use a low speed / high torque setting or a 3 on the drill's clutch (if so equipped) when putting it in reverse. I've used this technique a lot on my REPU, especially on it's door hinge screws lately (BIG size 3 phillips head flathead screws).
If you can get to the back side of the bolts (prolly not in this specific case) and spray it with PB'laster that'll help. As will getting vice grips on the back of that bolt if it sticks out past the nut/stud.
Put a dab of anti-seize on the threads of new bolt so it won't get stuck again. Best of luck.

I had to remove quite a few broken screws/bolts from the MGB I restored a few years ago. I found that if you have enough room it works well to cut a slot in the top of the broken bolt...I used a hacksaw in some cases, or a Dremel with a cutoff wheel. Then use an impact screwdriver and hammer it out. Use copious amounts of Liquid Wrench or PB Plaster to help loosen it.
Good luck!

this is what i was told to do with my paintball gun. paintball guns live on alien wrenches. take a old alien key put super glue in the hole and put the alien key in it and wait intill it drys and unscew it out. drill a hole in what ever you drilled in and put a peace of metel in it and super glue it. then un screw it.

I found the best way to get them out is to just drill them out then use a slightly larger bolt, and retap the hole to that bolt. Or, if your careful enough you can use a drill just smaller than the threads of the bolt, and then use a tap to clean out the original threads.

ive always used the bolt extractors you get at ace or home depot, you drill a hole then put the extractor in your drill and it comes right out. it looks like a drill bit thats threaded back words so when you run the drill forward the groves catch in the hole you pre drilled and it comes right out.
