Wiring Gen 1 for a TII Transplant

I am putting a TII powerplant and trans into a gen 1. Where can I get info on getting the wiring right? I will be using all gen TII accessories, wiring harness, coils, etc from a stock TII. Or conversely, I would also buy a car that is already done.

I am working on this problem right now and am about 90% complete on the design. Just found out I need the TII cruise control since a vacuum source doesn't work real good on an engine that has boost.

Keep in mind that my setup hasn't been tested yet but I think I'm doing a good job. I have a decent electrical background so we'll see.

My conversion involves an 84 SE so if you have a 12a or previous year it is likely to be different. At least you'll get a general idea what to do. The result will have the FC emissions harness, and the required front harness wires added to the FB wiring. I'm not going to take out the main FB front harness--too much work and this way I could always go back to the old system if necessary. Some of the FB front harness connections will have to be pushed out of the connector and installed in the FC connector--not too bad.

I'll try and post the schematics on my website in a few days.

I'll be doing this same project, really. Except that I was kinda dumb when starting this one....I'm just purchasing the parts here and there, rather than the whole 2nd gen car to transplant....but at least my motor is ported already and I'll have lots of *fun* doing this...

Good luck to all of us!

I've a TurboII engine in a N/T and am experiencing no problems using the vacuum operated Cruise Control. I thought I'd need a electric cruise unit but was advised by another person that it was not required. He was right. You ain't a boostin when cruisen. Give it a try before spending any money.

Yes but when you go up a slight incline your car is going to boost then mess up the cruise signal.

ok the TII wiring is VERY similar to the N/A.

but there is any "one way" to do this. However the task is not as bad as it seems.

In the FC, you have two wiring hanesses that connect to the ECU. One goes straight out to the enigne bay on the passenger side, the other goes through the dash and out on the drivers side.

The one that goes out of the passanger side of the car does NOT have to be messed with at all. just leave it alone.

The other harness is what needs to be delt with. You are going to need a complete wiring diagram, or just get teh FSM. You need to unwrap the harness, and seperate anything out of there that isnt part of the engine control system. Double check the connectors and wires before you snip them. There are a few connetions that you are going to have to join from the FB harness to this one, like the clutch switch, ignition switch, etc.

When you have doen this, you have a snake about the size of a fire hose when you start, and it should look like the size of a garden hose when you are done. Just re wrap the thing in electrical tape, put in some wire loom for the enigne bay and thats it!

NO. You can be cruising and stomp the pedal(BOOST) up to ninty and let off. The cruise Will re-engage once the car gets back down to where you set it to cruise.
