Wiring in gauge light?

What color wires do I splice into to get a gauge lamp to dim and turn on?

Like... the dash lighting wires...

I am looking at my Hayne's Manua, and can't seem to decode it.

Download the FSM from my sig. I used that wiring diagram to find the wire that came off of the dimmer switch. Don't recall which one it is. I'm really bad at reading wiring diagrams, but I'll take a guess that you may find it in Sec. 50, p. 22, (85 FSM). I may be the RG wire coming off of the instrument panel control. I found a spare dimmer switch, but it has a 3 prong plug with a B and 2 RG wires, not the B, RG and RL listed in both the 85 and 83 FSMs.

When I added the 5 new gauges to the widebody, I added a separate dimmer **** since I didn't know if the stock one would handle the extra load. Sorry I can't be more help.

just pull the instrument gage panel, disconnect the plug that goes to the top two lights, and run a jumper from the hot radio wire (that way it is only hot when the engine is on), and ground.

If you want to get fancy , add a rheostat, or toggle switch.
