Wiper pins (driving me insane)

Ok, my cousin's Rx-7 has no pins to hold on the blades, and my car's pins are starting to rust, AS WELL as my rear arm is pinless (I heard the rear wiper arms are supposed to have integrated pins but it's just like my front arm, got a hole and a release tab.) I asked Autozone, NAPA, and O'Reiley's if they had the pins, they don't show up in the catalogue, checked rock auto then EVEN ASKED THE DEALER and nobody sells the retaining pins. So I want to know where can order some, or what hook type wiper arm is a direct bolt onto the first gen wiper motors?

I HATE this stupid pin design, and other pin type cars all have the pins built into the wiper arms so that you can't lose it.

got my replacement blades from either advanced or autozone. i'll have go back and check the brand as i don't remember. but it's very universal. it had more than one way to attach them to the wiper arms. doubt u can buy just the pins.

Why not just buy new blades. Advance sells Tricos that come with new pins. I just recently bought a set. If I remember right, they were 17" blades.

I've bought new blades before, it always comes with plastic hardware, none of which resemble a pin that goes into the hole on the wiper arm?? So I should check out some of those brands?

Thanks Fox, I found that in the search(I try to always search before making a new thread), and while I know how to weld, I don't have the access to a welder., nor the fabrication skills to trust my work on my car haha.

There has to be a better thing to do than this. My car has just started doing it.

Autozone (or any other car mart) has replacement blades for 1st gens, they come with a variety of adapters and clip right on, very simple. If your pins are rusty or need to be replaced, then surely the blades aren't any better - time to replace them (especially with all the rain we are having in Georgia these days).

The front and rear wiper blades are the same.

Note: I'd suggest getting the actual recommended replacement size of 17 inch. Some have suggested getting the next size up to get more clearance and they probably will fit, but just barely and you don't need to clear that last 2 inches at the top. The larger blades will look clunky, create more drag and might hang up on the window frame if you don't have them positioned just right.

I kinda wonder what would happen if I epoxied that pin on the wiper cheap alternative? I bought some Rain-X wipers a few month ago so definatly don't feel like buying a new pair of wipers just for that.

Trico red pack part# 18-8(soon to be discontinued at Advance, limited to store stock). Trico Teflon 15-170. The pins are in them.

So I went and got 3 of the Trico Teflons. Wonderful metal hardware in the pack, and you were right! The pins were included! Also a rubber enhancing wipe of alcohol or something to increase wiper life, as well as the name implies, Teflon coated rubber blades. These wipers are serious! I can't thank you enough, for the first time since my cousin bought his Rx-7, he has wipers, and for the first time since I bought mine, I now have a rear wiper.

(blades are a little pricey at $11.99 a piece but VERY VERY well worth it)

I work at Advance, The Trico teflons are great blades and do come with the pins, as Viperx7 mentioned above.

i have yet to find a blade that stays flexible. after couple weeks in the parked position, the blade stays folded one way so they chatter when they go up the windshield.

u don't necessarily rebuild them, u just buy replacements at autozone, advance, etc.

edit: o wait, u mean the mechanism don't u. there's been a few that have had to do something to that effect, as i have, due to a wiper arm shaft seizing up. i learn to do such things by looking at stuff and figuring out how to take them apart. i had all intentions of doing a how to with pix but once i get started doing something i carry thru till it's done as it needs to get done and can't take time out to take pix cause it's a dd(only vehicle) and can't be down longer than it takes to do the job.
