windshield wiper bushings
Where can I get the wiper bushings for my '81 fb? I found some at black dragon but don't think they are the ones that I need. The ones that I need are 2 pieces and are white. My wipers work but because the bushimgs are worn the wipers have slop and don't sweep properly. I was thinking about fabing up something with endlinks and getting rid of the bushings. Thanks, Rob

Update - I used a rubber grommet (same one as everyone uses for headlight arm bushings) on my wiper motor ball joint, and greased it up with red wheel bearing grease. It held strong for three months and today it's fallen off twice. My guess is that the rubber just deteriorated.
Anyone know any other solutions?

once again, my wipers are slow , and they stop. So I took out the wiper link mechanism. One of the wiper bushings was rusted up. (gee, no **** sherlock!). Removing the retaining clip, liberal application of wd-40, and lots of elbow grease, I got the damn things separated ( where the wiper attaches, and the brass housing). And it was rusted!!
Question is >>----> what should I lube the wiper housing with? White axle grease? Wd-40? teflon tape? pb blaster? dura lube ? (as seen on TV !! )
I'm tired of having to go through this ritual every year or so!!!

I had my seized wiper rack out last week.
Like a moron, I broke that bushing.
Anyway, I used Kroil & vice grips to free it up. Then greased it up w/ Lucas Red & Tacky.
My wipers are out of sync now, they'll make a full sweep (smoothly) but stop in the middle of my windshield.
Anyone have a rough idea where the little arm off the motor should be neutral? Should of took pics.
Got my bushing to work, but what department did you find that?

you could get the little arm's correct position by trial and error, OR when the wiper motor is back at the initial position, the the wiper assembly is at its most right (opposite of left) position, and the wipers the initial position that you desire.
Lots and lots of people break that damn bushing.

My wipers have gotten really slow lately so I think they may be seized up. Hopefully the bushings aren't bad.
I'll have to be extra careful around the bushings when I pull them apart.

the brass housing that holds the shaft connected to the wipers is probably rusted up
this morning I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out the which wire did what on the wiper motor. Only thing I learned is that somehow the black wire (ground) when it is disconnected, the wiper motor cannot find its home position

Waking this from the dead.
I just repaired my FB windshield wipers with a spherical rod end. The big plastic bushing had completely disappeared. I ended up cutting off the end of that arm and welded a slotted (using wafer wheel on an angle grinder) spherical rod end to the same length. Then cut off the ball on the other piece and welded a flat head screw (allen head) in its place. Bolted the spherical end to the bolt and it works great. Pictures are kind of crummy, but hopefully give the general idea.

There's a guy that sells them on Ebay. He has posted about them here before. Just search for "***NEW**** 79-85 1st Gen Rx-7 Windshield wiper Mechanism bushings + 2 spares" on Ebay.

There was no need to go that far. I make 3d printed wiper bushings for the 1st gen. I cannot post a link, but search on ebay for 79-85 1st Gen Rx-7 Windshield wiper Mechanism bushings + 2 spare. This is the thread
