Windshield Replacement Question

Hello folks... I have a question... I have a friend who has a good w/s for my car...However my question to you guys is... When I spoke with Triumpth Auto Glass...they said that it requires a speicial heating element to put the glass in the car and that I could not do it... Any thoughts on replacing my winshield myself?

Thanks in advance...

There are a few things on an RX that i don't do myself. One of them is replacing the windshield. It is too easy to f it up. I leave that job to the professionals. It usually doesn't cost much, especially if you already have the windshield.

Replacing the windsheild is not an easy task, especially if you don't have the right tools. I suggest getting the pros to do it.

I'm spending several thou on a repaint of the Brown Mound and even then the glass installers didn't want to take out the windshield for fear of it breaking. I would let the pros handle it!

Right on.

I watched the guy from the drive-up glass outfit put one in my 83 and it looked so easy I thought I'd never forget (took him about 15 minutes, $200 to the insurance company) but now when I contemplate the cracked windsheild in the SE I can't figure it out! But the local PnP has an adjunct that promises a windsheild replacement for $100.

yeah its really not that hard, you just have to be really carefull. if its a stock glass that your pulling from the donor you have a little better than a 50/50 chance of it not cracking,if its aftermarket it can be tricky cause most people use some really sticky stuff(and lots of it).
