windshield molding

does anyone know if the molding around the windshield and top of the doors can be removed and reused on a different body?

a smartass answer would be to bust the window of the car you want to take the molding off Or just take mines its molding is already lifted mostly off... That is if you have a 85 rx7

that is always a possibility, since i no longer need the windshield..

i figured that the molding was the same on all first gens.. i was planning on taking it off of an '80 and put it onto a '79

They should be the same for that close of a year spread. They changed up sheetmetal starting in '81, so I don't know if subtle differences exist in the mouldings for those years. I haven't actually tried to get the stuff off, so I'm no help there...sorry...

The molding is ALL the same in ALL 1st gen 7s. I have '85 molding on my '79 because Paul aka Vohaul (the guy I bought it off of) wanted the chrome stuff off my car for his new baby. Of course, I got stuck with the black stuff off of his car... oh well, what can you do...

it can be carefully pried off. you WILL break some of the retaining clips so plan on buying more. if you have a victoria british catalog, they had a pic illustrating the molding assembly... not to mention they also had the replacement clips. the a pillar moulding will have a screw at the very bottom holding it on as well.

I've managed to get some of that molding off my car and place it back in with some luck. Its actually pretty loose at the moment but since there is no other car around for me to place it on I just had to make 2 decisions either A: keep pulling it off and on just for the flipping hell of it or B: make a lifestyle or job change and become a full on dominatrix with my own new fangled whip.

I think I rather do A for the moment :p

well the molding would give me enough material for a cat of nine tails whip but then I would have to get some dominatrix style clothing to supply anyone with a pic. Oh wait your guys I'm sure you don't care if a woman has clothing or not. :p
