Window regulator alignment question

power windows help

I'm installing power windows on my 83
I have not mounted the window reg/motor onto the door itself but all is correctly pluged in and still no power/movment what could it be? Do I have to mount the regulator/motor onto the door so there can be some kind of ground contact?please help..

i would just look and see if it will even have any ground possible but if not check the fuses

Thanks I forgot to mention that I have check the fuses all are good I'm going to mount it on hope for the best..

i think the motor grounds thru the car try grounding the motor and hit it with some 12v

The motor does NOT need to be grounded as the ground goes through the switch.There are two wires,and depending on which way it is going(up or down) one wire is power,and the other is ground,and vice versa when it goes in the other direction.

If I remember right I needed to add a sub harness from the switch wiring to under the dah somewhere to complete the circuit.

play with the windows

O.k I am installing power windows in the 83 Rx
all has been mounted and working except when the window goes down it gets off track and there fore does not goe all the way up only goes less than half way I see that goes off the track or something ..what would be the cause and how can it be fixed? also there is some play with windows..

Clean and lube the gears, tracks and rollers, then check the track seals that the window rides in for deformation and movement. White lithium grease, aerosol, for the gears/rollers.
