window defroster wire broke at window?

The wire is just hanging and it looks like it should be soldered but looks like some glue was used. Any ideas on how to repair it?

They sell electrically conductive adhesive window defrost tab repair kits at the auto part stores. It's $10, or more, for a tiny vial. I think it was about an ounce or something rediculas. I tried it but with no success. I have talked to the dealership and they said that they had a very low success rate of fixing them.

Or here is another kit which I havent tried yet:

Also available at JC Whitney for $25.

Has anyone had experiences with this or similar product?

I had the same problem on my '81 about 20 yrs ago. I super-glued the spade on the end of the loose wire back onto the window then 'painted' the spade to the defroster grid with 3M (non-adhesive) conductive paint. Worked like a dream.

hey guys iam a auto glass tech, i deal with the stuff all day long, the way we do it at the shop is take sand paper and scuff the copper element and the back glass tab and put some flux and soder and re bond were or beside the original marking was and hold untill the soder melts and hope that it holds, itas a good idea that there are two peple there, one to soder and someone outside rubbing were ur sodering to tell its getting to hot , DONT OVER HEAT OR YOU WILL BLOW THE GLASS.
or just bring it to your local glass shop, the **** that they sell at the auto store is no good , along with the rear view mirror button glue .. good luck
