Should stop in the middle, however what is the level at idle. Mine drops and holds perfect at idle and when running, but if just the key it kinda goes high.

at idle the fuel is still high in the glass, kinda out of sight, but it seems to run and idle ok, just wondering if i were to set float if it would improve anything or it wouldnt make any difference and leave it alone....thanks,

You'll run a little richer on that side of the carb at high rpm. I used to set my floats at 3/4 on the sight glass. It wont hurt anything to leave it how it is, but you might want to reset your float levels next time you have your air horn off.

Emissions and gas mileage are the casualties because it is running rich...

Not really no. It'll only make the car run rich when the bowl level drops and the engine creates enough vacuum to draw air into the emulsion tube (high rpm), and even then, we're talking *slightly rich* on one rotor. No big deal.

I personally saw a 2 mpg difference between full float windows and setting it back to 1/2 window 2 weeks later when I could get back to tearing the carb up. You could smell the difference...

If one rotor is running richer/leaner than the other it will wear different. Too rich will lubricate everything so it wont wear the same and the car will run funny ie one rotor producing more or less horses. No biggy now but later could be problem. If you have time set the floats again. Make sure both front and rear needle seat springs are the same tension and length. Measure with the gasket on and to the tip of the float (16 mil +/- .5) inverted and 51 mil +/- to the lowest part of the float sitting upright (haynes manual or carb rebuil kit displays it well) Measure with needle seat springs installed on its own weight. I just chased a problem through 6 carb rebuilds (something totally different causing prob) in the last 2 weeks. Spray a shot of WD-40 into the needle seat prior to assy.

LOL and have fun
