Will it Work?

Wanted some input... i'm hoping to turbo my 12a here pretty soon. I picked up a garret t25 (stock rb26dett turbo) unused from a guy for a good price. I was wondering if you guys knew if the ceramic exhaust blade would hold up to the high heat from my rotary... i dont remember the ar of the exh or the comp right off hand, but it seemed small... just wondering if you guys think it would max boost to quick, or might be pretty good size. I know i'll need some other mods... i[m in the process of building a megasquirt ecu right now, i already have a bov, and maybe an intercooler.

Any advice would be great... I'll post the size of the trubo later, or if anybody already knows feel free to speak up.

From what Ive heard, those ceramic turbos were unreliable on the engines they were designed for.
And its way too small.....yes,others are going to disagree, but there really are very few factory automotive turbos that can come close to the size of the stock 12AT and TII Hitachi HT-18 turbos.....the MkIII Supra is the only one Ive seen thats close.

Save your time and money, eBay it and pick up a 2nd gen one, with manifold, in good condition.

What were your plans on an exhaust mani anyway? The turbo you have will require a custom made one, unless you find a 12AT one, and I doubt it has the same bolt pattern. Time to start researching your project for the simple answers, the harder ones are yet to come.

Since the 12a went the way of the dodo at the end of production of the 1gen, then yes, the reference was towards a 13b turbo.
The 13b is longer, and the exhaust ports are further apart, as are the intake ports for the secondary ports. The 13b manifold can be modded to fit on a 12a, but it is not a direct fit.
Your best bet, would be to custom build a manifold to fit you engine and turbo of choice.

i figured... still tryin to get these years and numbers together. been a nissan guy too long... trochoid was saying i'd save more just pickin up one the second gens, but i do have some go fast bits. That was the entire point of my thread. Is the turbo that i have not going to be functional enough to produce any kind of performance gains that will be worth the time and money? I've got friends that can machine, and weld and what not. My point is should i get a diff turbo? of make due with the one i spent money on already? If its no good for a 12a, i'll just throw it on my ca18de in my exa

yeah, i intended on gettin a custom tube mani welded, using my RFL bov, and the t25. I'm werkin on megasquirt right now, if i cant find a good carb for this setup, then i'll run injectors with the stand alone. The werks... i got alot of ideas in my head. just wanna bounce them around and see what i can do.

To date, I have never missed a single burger night, and my '83 only missed one, due to a leaking waterpump. We usually start getting there around 7-7:15.
