Will 13 x 8 wheels fit over GSL-SE discs?

I recently purchased a set of 13x8 SSR Mk II's, and have begun searching for the parts I need to switch my 84 gs model over from 4 x 110mm to a 4 x 114.3 bolt pattern so that I can fit these wheels. However, I just talked to Jeff at Mazda manor and he is skeptical as to whether the 13's will clear the SE model's disc brakes. Has anyone done this before? I bought these wheels without realizing how difficult it is to source good tires, but I am willing to deal with that. I hope I'm not dead in the water with no way to even fit them to my car.. Someone please drop by with the wisdom I need!

Anyone willing to go and eyeball the clearance of the stock 14's over the discs of their gsl-se's? If I make these wheels work I promise to post pictures as I haven't seen another fb running them..

Steel wheels will. Common autocross setup, 13x8 or 13x9.

i haven't done it myself, but the number of people who have is far from zero.

I know 13x8 baby supras do not. The caliper hits the inside of the wheel. Hope that helps.

I think I'm going to risk it and get the GSL-SE rear end, I wonder what the difference is between steelies and the baby supras that allows one to fit but not the other?

Steel wheels are a lot thinner than aluminum.

As a general rule of thumb, a given brake rotor will require aluminum wheels 4" larger in diameter, or steel wheels 3" larger in diameter.

Clearly the caliper shape, rotor depth, and wheel bell shape all have to come into play, but it is VERY hard if not impossible to go smaller than that. This is why steel wheels are still popular for many forms of motorsports. You're not going to very easily cram 12" brakes under 15" aluminum wheels, for example.
