Wierd!

ok so i was driving along the other day out in the middle of no where when i spot a white first gen....i pull over not knowing the condition and ask the guy if he wants to xsell it, he says hes got nothing to do with it but his son will sell it for 25-30 bucks, its a 79 or an 80....perfect body, wierd rims not the waffle ones, never seen these on a first gen or any car for that matter the engine has alot of parts dismantled and it looks like it is siezed, so today i went to check it out again and guess what......its a friken 2+2!!!!!!!! iv never seen a 2+2 first gen in my life i know its degrading to the sports car name but im definetly gonna buy it and maybe fix it, on a scale of 1 to ten in all catagories goes like this
interior=4
body=8.5
paint=4
engine=2
and it doesnt have a sunroof.........maybe it will be a race car?!!!!maybe not i dunno, but for 30 bucks a rare fb is worth it....

yeah,

If you figure out a way to get it home, it's definately worth it. You can make your money back on just 1 or 2 parts alone on Ebay.

that's pretty cool. I know someone who got a 2nd *turbo* for like $100, and he got 20,000 or 30,000 miles out of it b4 he traded it (it still ran good)in. Apartment houses are a good place to find cheap parts cars, this summer My Dad bought a 1984 Camaro for $100!!!!!! You can get $100 alone by selling the wheels off of it. Some guy moved and diddn't care about the car and we even got a clean title. After a new engine (the old one knocked bad), we're driving it. -

$25-30 dollars!? You're kidding!

The backseat is a very useful unit to have in your 1st gen. While you probably wouldn't want to stick a person back there, it's very handy for holding books or whatnot. There's even room for an amplifier to mount under the backseat.

you basically have nothing to lose in that deal but the driveway space. if you bought the biggest P.O.S. in the world for that much, you could easily part it out and find AT LEAST A FEW THINGS that are worth more than 30 bucks. plus, taking apart cars are fun if you decide to part out.

the best part is MAKING MONEY! lol parting out a car like and selling the useful parts... you could make 10 times what you paid for that car.

i just have some THRILL about making money from nothing lol. maybe becuz when i was young i was out in the neighborhood and i saw someone threw a damn perfect bike out for the trash! no lie nothing wrong with it. grabbed that **** and sold it to some sucker for 20 bucks! after that i had a big smile on my face and started thinkin "hey this is a good idea!" LOL

I believe the 2+2 was offered for the japanese market because it has less strict crach standards. Curious find indeed.

Yes. There's just enough room to fit one aftermarket amplifier under the seat, comfortably.

These cars are great, partially because they have little value and lots of potential! Hell, I got mine from a Canadian man who bought it new in '84 in Canada, so it has the metric speedometer . The paint was badly faded, and it had 215,000Km, but otherwise, looked great! He offered to let me 'test drive' it for the weekend, and then called me up monday, when we were supposed to meet and said he had to go out of town for two weeks! I said That I could drop the car off where he had it originally, and he asked me to keep driving it to work and such! I had given him no money, no ID or anything! He just kept telling me, "I trust you, you look like a good guy" (and I'm not used to getting that kind of comment, as I have hair down to the middle of my back!) After the two weeks, when he was back in Ohio, he called me up and asked what I thought, we met later that day. I did not think I'd be able to get it, and I told him I loved it, but honestly did not have a lot of money. So he asked how much I had, and said that will be fine, just call me later whenever you have the rest. He ended up taging it at $800, which I paid him three payments over the next few months. And he even insisted I kept $100 of the last payment. "buy yourself a beer!" he said. Great guy. I should call him one of these days to see how he's doing these days....

Non-sunroof cars are the preferred platform for building a race car. I'd try to sell it to someone looking to build one.

Reason # 76 to own a Rx-7: In a world full of riced out civics, accords, and cameras it rare to find a Japense built sports car that was intended to be (and functions) as a true sports car, not a econobox with $300 pounds of neon-colored body kit and goddy graphics, and that dam annoying fart can exhaust that gives us serious import racers a bad rep.

I hate sunroofs. Of course, being 6ft 5in/ 255lbs, I need all the extra headroom I can get.
And where are you guyz finding all these cheap RX7s that run great?!?!? Around here, if they are cheap it is because: body dented all to hell/ doesn't run or barely runs/ interior rough. Of course there was that guy that told me about somebody who has a nice 1st gen for 600$, but he never returned my calls.
On topic- I wish I had a big old wharehouse that I could find and store all the 1st gens I can find (and anybody else finds) in running condition or not. Someday almost all will have been wrecked or crushed, and the idea of a cheap and lightweight rear wheel drive sports car will be completely confused with Mustang convertables.
