Widebody Question

Widebody Question
Does anybody here have a Mariah Mode one Widebody?
I have some Rims/Tire questions.
I want to know how wide I can go on 17's if possible. I think it's 17x10 front and 17x12 rear, but I may be incorrect. It may be 17x8 front, and 17x10 rear.. I dunno.
The other difficult part is that I have a GSL-SE, so the offset is different from the traditional 1st Gens.
Mike-P will probably have the same question, but he has a GSL offset.
My goal is for the Rim and tire to "barely" fit under the fender, without it protruding. - Vette Like.
Kinda like this (I know this is a second Gen...)
If someone knows how to calculate it with the offset and all that - that might help narrow dows the choices.
The Rims I really want are just like Max7's - but in the correct proportional width, for the widebody.
14" vs. 17" side by side

DF, call and ask jeff, at designenergy. If anybody knows
(1) how large of wheel. (2) what offset. and give you a positive answer, because, hey !. Thats what they do.
I'm surprized you didn't ask when ordering your mode one, man. A 17' inch wheel ? man,,thats big.

go 17s it will look sick.
I cant think of the name, but in the last SCC mag, on there MR2 project car they installed a veilside widebody kit. They got custom offset wheels with a huge crome lip.
they got it perfect and it really pulled all the body mods together. Looked tight as hell.
Ill see if I can find the name.

My 16s had clearance issues with the stock body as it was - I had to modify the front fenders with subtle flares so the tires wouldn't scuff while cornering.
the 205/50R16 tires aren't nearly as wide as you're talking, and already steering and straight-line handling over bumps is lousy. The wider you go, the worse these characteristics get.

Mark, If I wanted a Third Gen, I would’ve gotten a third gen. I have owned 7 FB’s and I haven’t owned one since 1996, - until my relatively recent addition last December.
Back in the day, I always dreamed of a mint Wide-body Turbo GSL-SE. Now I am finally realizing that dream, little by little. This Forum has been an UNBELIEVABLE amount of help in the process. Too bad the internet didn’t exist like it does today back in the early 90’s.
Trust me, I’ve spent more than enough to buy a well modified single Turbo FD by now, but that’s not what gets my juices going – at least not yet.
IoTuS - Those pics are what I mean when I say they look old and dated. Those body kits are fine, but they need nice colors, nice paintjobs, and absolutely sick rims.

The tires in the first pic on the red widebody are Yokohama AVS Intermediates.
The tires on the Konig's, I can't for the life of me remember which is annoying me to no end.

They look like the Budnik Spider to me. Not cheap - not sure where to get them the cheapest. There may be a knock-off that's cheaper. HTH

Every time I see the body kit posted by DR above, I email the owner and ask "What is it called? Where'd you get it?" They ALL claim it's a custom design made to their personal specs and wait for me to tell them how creative and unique they are, but I've seen it in 4 colours, each on different cars, to date.
So where does one get that kit? I'd not use it on Pamela, but I'd buy a new FB for it.
