any reason why you want to go the same size all around? just wondering

I dunno just seems it would be easier and less confusing to order 4 of the same wheel rather than doing 2 of one and 2 of the other

Yeah, your going to try to keep the same size at all four corners ?? practical ?? so you can rotate as they wear.?
Thats what i did.... I could be wrong, but, doesn't the mode one call for a wider wheel in the rear ?? to look right ??... What porsche kits ?? slant nose ? I can see a 1st gen in this picture.

rotation is about the only reason to run all 4 the same size.
mike id say go staggered. the only reason to go wide body is to fit more rubber under there so why not go ahead and fit as much as you can.

as for me im takin paalos panasports off his hands and i should be happy with that for now. til i get the project car up and runnin.... im thinkin keizers

Ok talked into it then LOL Show me wheels... Keeping in mine, Ill have to have them drilled, and stay with compainies that do this on a per order basis.

Wheel suggestions..

At mark, that isnt it. The one I see was a definate 911 copy on a rex body.. It even said so, then I seen a 930 (isnt that same as a 911 with pop up headlights?) it was a shitload of work, the picture I had in taht mag said 99 % finished.. Said still had the 12A rotary in...

Maybe Alex would know about this

Ok, chromed, polished, white, black, silver powder coat, ?
Gold center/polished dish/lip, what do you like, or maybe you should pick a colour of the car first. Thats an important thought. how many ' spokes' on a wheel, do you like a ' mesh' or 'web'ing , me, i've always kinda liked steves,(ajc-13b ) wheels. whats funny, is, the wheels that mariah shows, are ******* puke. IMO on the mode one's. ????? you know, right when i'm going to order an item, i stop, and wait at least a week. and for that week. i'm nothing but an info hound. research, research, have you thought about getting a magazine
oh,,say import,,,whatever,, all the wheel adds could give you a refference to start from. ???

Wheel suggestions..

Companies that do this are typically higher end and as such are going to cost about what the Budnik's I showed you do. Keep in mind that they are posting list prices on their websites - they can be had for less. A few of the higher end custom bolt pattern/offset companies are Budnik, Billet Specialties, Colorado Custom, B. Coddingtons, Fikse, HRE, and Simmons. Those are just off the top of my head; there are certainly more. You're probably going to need a wider wheel with a different offset in the back to look right. Unfortunately your best bet is going to be to wait until you have the body kit on before you do any measuring for your wheels, unless Mariah can shed more light on it than " 8.5 x 16" on the front and 9.5 x 16" on the rear". You may be able to pick a particular wheel now, but I wouldn't custom order anything until you've got the body 'glassed up. Then measure, order, and wait - they may take awhile to manufacture.

As for which wheel you should go with - that depends on the look you're going for. Trendy? Race Car? Sleeper? Stockish (this might be a tough one...)

Hope this helps ya out

I spoke to the owner of that silver wide body briefly at SevenStock 5 where that pic was taken. He told me it was the Mazda IMSA kit, custom turbo setup... Mazdatrix also did some work on the car so maybe you can call them up and ask about it..etc.

I always thought Silver SVT Cobra R rims would look real nice on a widebody FB.

That's a good thought! I wonder if the offset is anywhere near correct. A buddy of mine has a set of four lug 17X8 Cobra R's for sale (he converted to 5 lug). I should do a little test fitting to see if they fit. I imagine there's probably no way they're going to fit on the front if they do happen to fit on the back. Maybe a switch to coilovers would do it?

Does anyone know what the offset or backspacing is of the stock -SE wheels? The more I think about this the more I realize it's not going to work...

Nevermind...

They're a different lug pattern. 4x108 as opposed to the 4x114.3. Won't work...

Mike, not these exact same wheels, but note how deep the dish is on the rear, while the fronts are more ' flush'
but still wide. just a thought.

Mark,

I know they are similar. Mike and I spoke to the guys at Mariah and confirmed that the Mode 1 and Mode 4 front ends are similar, but not the same.

Turns out they made the mode 4 front end because many people wanted a mode 1 "look" without going wide body.

The mode one is over 4 inches wider.

I went to a Halloween party last nite, and to put it mildly I feel like crap and have a big headache... Ill come back and read back over it when I can comprehend it a lot better.

They have a real nice centre cap though......

What you could do is go to www.grannysspeedshop.com and get a Ford 9-inch rear end specially made for the first gen RX-7 then put huge *** braked suspension, and pretty much any rim you want. You would of courrse have to change the front axle but it wouldn't be THAT hard to do.

ive always liked the cobra r's
you can get cheaper imitations if you want
theyre 5x4.5" dunno the offset but there is more than one cobra r wheel.
they had the ones on the 93's that were the split three spokes (same as the 94 gt wheels but black) that had a black center with polished lip and chrome center cap. theyre 17x8
the 95 cobra r's were 17x9. real ones were called r58's i think and had a 5.95" back spacing but im not positive
the 2000 cobra r's are 18x9.5
gonna need to do some updating to the wheelspecs ford section doh
wanna be brave? get some svo wheels lol

thanks to my bro Jacob for that info. hes even more of a ford nut than me
